Cardamom is a plant that has soft stems and is not shaped like wood. This plant has a distinctive aroma in each part and can grow up to 2 m. This plant grows creeping underground, with a slightly rounded shape and has a yellowish white color, but is covered with scales. The stems will separate and can grow upright up to 2m. Cardamom, with the scientific name W. compacta, is a native plant and is endemic to the hilly areas around West Java. Today, cardamom is cultivated and may grow wild.

Cardamom spice is a spice produced from the seeds of several plants in the Zingiberaceae family. Javanese cardamom has a round shape and is red in color, while Indian cardamom has a more oval shape and is green in color. In general, cardamom is consumed in the form of seeds, essential oil, powder and herbal supplement capsules. Cardamom contains sufficient minerals, vitamins and fiber. This spice also has low calories and low fat. Apart from that, cardamom also contains natural compounds with antioxidant properties which are of course very beneficial for health.
